05.21.05: all the kewl kidz are doin' it...

Seeing as how I haven't updated in almost a month, I'm throwing out a happy little meme so y'all know I'm still alive. :) (Past month in one sentence: work, work, weekend trip to Vegas, turned 37 [!], trip up to Massachusetts for friend's graduation, work.)

Da meme:

1. Total volume of music on my computer:
26.78 GB. But I need to take out the duplicates (badly!) and I've got about 100 CDs that should go on. It's sad, when you think about it...I've stopped listening to certain CDs because they're not on my computer yet. Lame.

2. The last CD I bought: I bought two -- "Future Perfect" by Autolux, and "Avalon Sutra" by Harold Budd. However, I received a CD for a birthday gift -- thanks, UIM! -- much more recently: "Front by Front," by Front 242.

3. Song playing right now:
"Wandering Star," by Portishead. Sheesh, could they please release a new album already?!

4. Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

  • "Three Imaginary Boys," by The Cure. Robert Smith started my Goth obsession -- blame him for all the black that I wear. It was hard to pick a single Cure song, but something about the rhythm of this one did it for me.

  • "What You Waiting For?," by Gwen Stefani. Reminds me that I need to get my ass moving on certain things. :)

  • "If Your Kisses Won't Hold the Man You Love...," by Rasputina. I unabashedly sing along to this. Heavens bless the cello-grrrls.

  • "Tomorrow Speaks," by Eleven. Beautiful, beautiful harmonies sung by amazing voices, and the lyrics work for me, too.

  • "Teardrop," by Massive Attack. Liz Fraser's voice and a perfect beat are inexplicably soothing.

I'm supposed to name five people to answer this in their own blogs, but screw it -- all of you, just go for it. :) Oh, and to keep up with me? I've got a Last FM page.
