05.28.04: gotta love a good sales pitch

I was walking to the subway this morning, and passed by someone hawking yet another free newspaper -- metro, this time. He had the best sales pitch I've ever heard -- didn't say what it was, didn't say what was in it, all he did was wave it around and say, "It's free! It's FREE!"

Roe, if you see this, send me an email. I want to know if you want to come to the city tomorrow for the meetup. xo

As a member of the promotions department, I get the wonderful opportunity to deal with the public at station events and the state fair..

One think for sure, you could be giving away vials of anthrax and people would take it because it was free..

Roe, when are you replacing your x-box? I’m assuming you would have a live account…

Good thing he wasn't a manure merchant.

Well, if it is anythign like the "Red Streak" / "Red Eye" silliness here in Chicago a couple years ago, it's because they want to get enough people reading them that after six months, they can start charging.

That is a good sales pitch. I wonder why there are so many free newsies. They're all the same.

Beep!
